Essentially, Wave Race is a casual side-scrolling arcade game with a quick tempo. The player guides their character through small tunnels filled with spikes, walls, gears and other traps or hazards by holding down one button.

Your arrow-shaped figure moves on its own and doesn't stop until it hits something. Hold down the button to make it fly up or slide along the ceiling. Let go of the button to make it fall. It all comes together to make a smooth, wave-like movement path.
